About Yukon PrideYukon Pride Adventure Tours was founded to introduce the gay and lesbian traveler to the magical place known as Yukon.

Stephen Dunbar-Edge, the owner of Yukon Pride Adventure Tours, was raised in the Yukon. He has traveled some four million square kilometers across Canada’s north, visited all 96 communities, and he believes the Yukon is one of the best and most beautiful places in the world.

After 25 years in the telecommunications industry, Stephen started sharing this love of the north and his passion for travel. Dunbar-Edge has been heavily involved with the territory’s business community, serving as past president of the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce and the Yukon Convention Bureau. He believes in investing back into the community and supports the city’s Blood Ties Four Directions organization (education, prevention, and support group, helping people with HIV and/or hepatitis C) and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Yukon through donations and board work.

Stephen believes in providing the highest quality custom designed travel for the gay and lesbian community. He has lined up the best of what the Yukon has to offer, providing package tours as well as options to enhance your northern experience. He works with the territory’s top guides to ensure that his guests will have an unforgettable trip north.

Stephen and his husband, Rob Dunbar-Edge, were successful in achieving legal recognition of same-sex marriages, through Yukon’s Supreme Court in July of 2004. They became the first gay couple to be legally married in the Yukon, with the Yukon becoming the fourth jurisdiction in Canada to allow gay marriage.

Stephen and Rob are active in the community of Whitehorse, volunteering with various charitable, not-for-profit, and service organizations. Stephen and Rob are avid supporters of the arts, and are both involved in being on the stage, behind the stage, or in the audience for the many and varied theatrical and cultural events in Whitehorse.

With two young daughters, Stephen and Rob co-parent with the girls’ lesbian mothers. Whitehorse is a welcoming and supportive community, for the girls, and their parents. Through Yukon Pride Adventure Tours, Stephen provides the opportunity for others to see and experience the Yukon, Canada’s best kept secret for its beauty, acceptance, and adventure.
